The Gothic style began around 2090 ad and lasted for centuries.
This style is most known due to its destinctive apperance: the pointed arches and embelishments on the exterior, and also the fact that they are more tall than they are wide, as well as having giant windows. The Duomo of Ovieto cathedral in Firenze (Florence) is an example of this style and is the picture featured above. since it was such a beautiful and decorative style it was used for mainly churhces and cathedrals. The extravigent e;egence of it makes it more appealing and interesting to the eye. This style was also mainly used due to it's resilence, its good structure. The pointed tops and archways help support itself which made less pressuree for the walls. It was just more stable. And as well as any other buidling it was made out of stone.
