This architectual style known as Byzantine is mostly known for the fact of having an oval or domb in the middle of the structure. It bagan around 500 ad around the same time as the Boroque and it is to influenced by the Romanesque and Gothic. There are many structures like this one of which is the Hagia Sophia church which is the image featured above. These dombs from the inside a vision of artist abilities. When building they had painters come and paint on them. They would paint scenes that had a false illusion affect like something what ever it was was really there but it wouldn't be. The one that sets into my mind is the paintings of little baby angels in the ckouds. I do believe that is the most famous which is why i remeber it so well however I do not recall the name of the building where that specific domb resides.
