Robby Ameen
Many of us first heard about Robby Ameen via his revelatory book Funkifijieg The Clase1 Afro-Cuban Grooves For Bass And Drums. Co-authored with bass player Lincoln Comes, this was the crucial text which first unlocked the secrets of Latin kit playing. Robby invented his salsa drumkit style while working with Latin stars Ruben Blades, Dave Valontin and, latterly, Rip
Hanrahan. Robby is currently sharing double drumming duties with Horacin 'El Negro' Hernandez, firing up the songs of legendary Cream bassist lack Bruce. Bruce's Cuicoland Express toured Britain last month, and Robby is back here throughout November with Michael Riessler's Momentum
