Joe Morello

Full Name Joseph A. Morello

Born Jul 17, 1928 in Springfield, MA

Joe Morello played early on with Phil Woods and Sal Salvador.

during 1952-53 he played with Johnny Smith, Stan Kenton's Orchestra, Gil Melle and the Marian McPartland trio.

Morello became famous as a member of the Dave Brubeck Quartet during 1956-67, Giving Brubeck the chance to experiment with unusual time signatures.

Joe went blind in 1976

Morello mostly works as a drum instructor since but still plays  in reunions with Brubeck and McPartland. He has led sessions for Score (1956), RCA (1961-2), Ovation (1969) and DMP (1993-94)
