Cooper coach Tim Sullivan started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Dante Hendrix, 6-3 Jr. Adam Kunkel, 6-4 So. Blaine Walters, 6-0 Jr. Brayden Runion, and 6-2 Jr. Tyler Ollier.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Jr. Zan Payne, 6-3 Jr. TC Price, 6-7 Sr. Peter Whitman, 6-3 Sr. Blake Scott, and 6-3 Sr. Luke Johnson.

 

Cooper defeated a cold shooting Lexington Catholic team by a score of 49-45 to capture the tournament championship.  Cooper shot 55.6% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on six of 13 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored four points off eight Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 31.7% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 15 of 20 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 Cooper turnovers.

 

Adam Kunkel led Cooper with 20 points including two three point baskets.  Blaine Walters added nine points and five rebounds.  6-5 Sr. Daniel Wasser chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.  Dante Hendrix recorded five points, three rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

 

Luke Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 24 points including three three point baskets.  Zan Payne added 13 points and nine rebounds.

 

Adam Kunkel was named Tournament MVP.

DuPont Manual coach Jeff Sparks started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Tonysha Curry, 5-11 Fr. Nila Blackford, 5-11 Jr. Aniah Griffin, 5-2 Jr. Tyonne Howard, and 5-5 Jr. Jaela Johnson.  Butler coach Larry Just countered with 5-10 Sr. Jaelynn Penn, 5-8 Sr. Tasia Jeffries, 6-3 Jr. Molly Lockhart, 5-4 Sr. Breia Torrens, and 5-6 Sr. Terri Goodlett.

 

Butler defeated DuPont Manual by a score of 62-50 to earn the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic championship.  There were eight lead changes and four ties in this game.  Butler shot 54.3% from the field including nine of 18 from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on three of eight free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 15 Manual turnovers.  Manual shot 41.5% from the field including five of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 12 Butler turnovers.

 

Jaelynn Penn led Butler with 18 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and six assists.  Breia Torrens added 10 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and six assists.  Tasia Jeffries recorded 10 points including three three point baskets.  Terri Goodlett chipped in with nine points and six assists.  Molly Lockhart added nine points, five rebounds, and three blocked shots.

 

Jaela Johnson led DuPont Manual with 19 points.  Nila Blackford added 13 points and six rebounds.  Tyonne Howard chipped in with seven points and four assists.

 

Jaelynn Penn was named Tournament MVP.

Lincoln County coach Cassandra McWhorter started the following lineup: 5-11 So. Emma King, 5-8 Sr. Jenna King, 5-11 So. Kaitlynn Wilks, 5-5 So. Maddy Boyle, and 5-7 Sr. Logan Godbey.  Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey countered with 5-10 Sr. Lindsey Johns, 5-10 Sr. Charity Mack, 6-0 Sr. Mallie Cornett, 5-4 Jr. Bailee Vanover, and 5-7 Sr. Kasi Schneid.

 

What a difference two weeks make!!!  On December 16th Madison Central traveled to Lincoln County and was throttled 81-47 to drop their record to 1-5.  Fast forward to December 29th and Madison Central pulled away in the final minutes to defeat Lincoln County 55-44 and improve their season record to 9-5, a 45 point turn around.  Lincoln County led 39-35 after three quarters but the Madison Central coaching staff did an excellent job keeping the team calm and focused and the Indians outscored the Patriots 20-5 in the final period.  There were eight lead changes and 11 ties in this game.

 

Madison Central shot 41% from the field including three of 15 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 20 of 26 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored four points off 12 Lincoln County turnovers.  Lincoln County shot 27.9% from the field including seven of 27 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 18 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Mallie Cornett led Madison Central with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Cornett was four of five from the field and six of six free throws.  Lindsey Johns added 13 points, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Kasi Schneid recorded 10 points including two three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Charity Mack also scored 10 points and pulled down six rebounds.  Bailee Vanover chipped in with seven points, four rebounds, and five assists.

 

Emma King led Lincoln County with 19 points including four three point baskets.  Maddy Boyle added eight points and four assists.  Jenna King recorded seven points and six rebounds. 5-9 So. Zaria Napier pulled down seven rebounds.

Fran Montgomery, and 5-5 Sr. Maddy Day.

 

Madison Central trailed 39-27 with five minutes left in the game and 43-33 with three minutes remaining but rallied to earn a 47-45 victory over Garrard County.  Madison Central shot 56.3% from the field including six of 17 from the three point line.  Madison Central attempted 17 less shots (49-32) from the field than Garrard County.  The Indians connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 16 Garrard County turnovers.  Garrard County shot 32.7% from the field including seven of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Lions connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 23 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Bailee Vanover led Madison Central with 12 points, four rebounds, and seven assists.  Lindsey Johns also scored 12 points including two three point baskets.  Taleya Todd chipped in with nine points and Kasi Schneid recorded eight points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  While Mallie Cornett was the focus of the Lady Lions’ defense she added four points, nine rebounds, three blocked shots, and five steals.

 

Maddy Day led Garrard County with 14 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals.  Sam Adams added nine points including two three point baskets.  Sis Logan recorded eight points, seven rebounds, and three steals.  Fran Montgomery recorded seven points, four rebounds, and four steals.  Neek Hocker added seven points.

Madison Central raced out to a 19-0 first quarter lead and was never threatened in a 65-20 victory over Lexington Christian Academy.  Madison Central shot a sizzling 64% from the field in the first half as they led 41-8 at the intermission.  Madison Central shot 54.5% from the field including two of seven from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 16 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 16.7% from the field including two of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored five points off 10 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Mallie Cornett led Madison Central with 20 points, five rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Cornett was six of seven from the field and eight of eight from the free throw line.  Lindsey Johns added 17 points including two three point baskets and six assists.  Taleya Todd chipped in with 10 points.  Bailee Vanover recorded seven points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

 

Grace Combs led LCA with 12 points including two three point baskets.

Oakland (TN) defensive intensity proved too much for Jeffersontown today as they recorded 17 steals and scored 33 points off 26 Jeffersontown turnovers in an 87-54 victory.  Oakland (TN) shot 55.4% from the field including six of 10 from the three point line.  They attempted 29 more shots (65-36) from the field than Jeffersontown.  The Patriots connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and held a 36-14 advantage in bench scoring.  Jeffersontown shot 41.7% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc.  The Chargers connected on 22 of 31 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored seven points off 11 Oakland (TN) turnovers.

 

Jaden Jamison led the victors with 21 points including three three point baskets, four assists, and four steals.  Keishawn Davidson added 14 points and four assists.  6-4 Sr. Tre Jones chipped in with 10 points.

 

Delvonte McCloud led Jeffersontown with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  6-3 Jr. Jalen Garnett added 10 points.
