Rick Bolus Camp June 25-29, 2017 Senior Division Summary

Senior Division Summary

There were several talented players in this division with several players making good impressions.  6-5 Sr. Ethan Haynes Boone County Florence KY was named Camp MVP for the high school division is very athletic, skilled, and has a big upside.  6-6 Sr. Paris Taylor Bolivar Central Bolivar TN is an athletic forward who scores and rebounds.  6-9 So. Ksaun Casey North Hopkins Madisonville KY was named Top Underclassman and is hard to stop in the paint at both ends of the court.  6-3 So. Noah Courtney Male Louisville KY is an athletic scorer with unlimited potential.  6-4 Jr. Brandon Wharton Nolensville Nolensville TN multi-skilled does it all.  6-5 Sr. Aaron Reed Marshall County Benton KY was named Camp Runner-Up MVP is athletic, has excellent basketball instincts and can shoot the ball.  5-10 Sr. Lance-Amir Paul Putnam Science Academy Putnam CT is a super quick point guard who gets to the rim at will.  6-8 Jr. Sterling Craig  Ravenwood Brentwood TN is a blue-collar post player who gets results.  6-4 Jr. Winston Tulloss Sale Creek Sale Creek TN absolutely attacks the glass.  6-5 So. Kenny White North Hopkins Madisonville KY young, smooth wing can score.  6-0 Sr. Markeevius Byrd Metter Metter GA penetrates and finishes at the rim.

 

6-3 Sr. Robert Wilcox Maplewood Nashville TN is an explosive slasher and shooter.  6-3 Sr. Nathan Stonecipher McCracken County Paducah KY great all around back court skills.  6-3 Sr. Devin Pendergrass Butler Louisville KY is a penetrator and shooter.  6-4 Jr. Emmanuell Percell-Traylor Childersburg Childersburg AL rebounds and blocks shot.  6-3 Sr. Okeitho Marhall Leo Catholic Chicago IL is unstoppable in the paint.  5-9 Jr. D.J. Smith Bolivar Central Bolivar TN has excellent point guard skills.  6-7 Sr. Jacob Llumbet Maryville Maryville TN is a blue collar inside player who can shoot the perimeter jump shot.  6-0 Jr. Cade Cunningham North Hopkins Madisonville KY has good basketball IQ and is a versatile scorer.  6-1 Sr. Collin Wedding Central Evansville IN is a combo guard who scores.  6-2 Sr. Deven Stone Wolfe County Campton KY has downtown range on his jumper.

 

6-7 So. Zach Benton Ryle Union KY is a good shooter with an understanding of the game.  6-4 Fr. Brett Bosley Paoli Paoli IN has an excellent jump shot-one to watch.  6-2 So. Dominic Greene Northwest Whitfield Dalton GA is a young athletic wing player.  6-3 Sr. Justin Kellogg Trenton-Wesclin Trenton IL is a blue collar tireless worker in the paint who can stroke the “3”.  5-11 Fr. Shane Bibby Central Louisville KY scores in transition and has a good upside. 

 

This is just a partial list of players making favorable impressions at camp and several players at all grade levels performed well this week.

Junior Division Summary

There were many talented players in the Junior Division and several of these players seem destined for future stardom.  6-3 8th Grade Brady Allen Gibson Southern Fort Branch IN was name Camp MVP in the Junior Division is an inside/outside player with a very high upside.  6-1 Fr. Jaz Johnson Wolfe County Campton KY was named Camp Runner-Up MVP in the Junior Division and has a very good mid range game.  5-5 Fr. Dennis Underwood Grand Blanc Grand Blanc MI leads on both the offensive and defensive end of the court.  6-0 Fr. Gabe Coleman Lawrence County Lawrenceburg TN is an excellent all around player.  5-8 8th Grade Andrew Floyd Raceland Middle Raceland KY is very skilled and versatile on the offensive end.  4-9 6th Grade Saxton Howard Lexington Christian Academy Lexington KY is a young dynamic floor general.  6-0 Fr. Jake Kesterson Oak Ridge Oak Ridge TN scores, rebounds, and is a tireless worker.

 

5-0 6th Grade Maurice McCall City Prep Columbus OH is a confident point guard who dazzles with his “ shake-and-bake” penetration.  5-10 Fr. Caleb Oliver Graves County Mayfield KY is a talented wing player.  5-11 Fr. Kirk Pence Raceland Worthington Raceland KY is a do-it-all player with a good upside.  5-8 8th Grade Charlie Storm Christian Academy Louisville KY has down-town range on his jump shot.  5-10 Fr. Tyson Webb West Carter Olive Hill KY is a versatile scorer.  5-11 Fr. Jackson Allen McCracken County Paducah KY is an athletic slashing wing and good rebounder.  5-7 8th Grade Taeviss Brown 5-7 8th Grade Newburg Middle Louisville KY is a penetrating playmaker.  6-2 Fr. Will Gullett Prestonsburg Prestonsburg KY has good size, soft touch, and rebounds.  5-10 8th Grade Jacob Wallace MacDonald Middle East Lansing MI works hard and scores.  This is just an abbreviated list and several other players impressed with their abilities, court savvy, work ethic, and potential.

Rick Bolus Camp High School Division Blue Chip Tournament

Rick Bolus’ 38th Annual High Potential Blue Chip Basketball Camp  June 25-29, 2017

 

High School Division Blue Chip Tournament

 

There were eighteen teams entered in this tournament and were placed into two divisions.  The North Division consisted of Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, and Illinois.  The records entering the single elimination tournament were California (9-0), Connecticut (6-3), Illinois (6-3), Colorado (6-3), Alabama (5-4), Arizona (4-5), Georgia (4-5), Arkansas (3-6), and Florida (2-7).

 

The South Division consisted of Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Minnesota.  The records entering the single elimination tournament were Louisiana (8-1), Maryland (7-2), Iowa (6-3), Michigan (5-4), Kentucky (4-5), Indiana (3-6), Minnesota (2-7), Kansas (1-8), and Massachusetts (0-9).

 

Both divisions were placed into the tournament and the results were as follows: Alabama defeated Arkansas, Michigan defeated Maryland, Colorado defeated Florida, and Kentucky defeated Iowa.  Action continued with California defeating Arizona, Connecticut defeating Georgia, Louisiana defeating Kansas, and Minnesota defeating Massachusetts.  Alabama defeated Illinois, Kentucky defeated Indiana, California defeated Alabama, and Michigan defeated Minnesota.  Connecticut defeated Colorado and Louisiana defeated Kentucky.  California defeated Connecticut in one semifinal and Michigan defeated Louisiana in the other semifinal.  Michigan defeated California 58-54 for the championship and handed California their first loss of the week.  Michigan finished 9-4 for the week and upset three teams (according to records) to capture the championship.  6-3 Sr. Nathan Stonecipher McCracken County Paducah KY was named Tournament MVP for the Michigan team.  6-2 Sr. Deven Stone Wolfe County Campton KY was named Tournament Runner-Up MVP for the California team.
