Scott County coach Bill Hicks (entering the tournament 978-272 and two state championships) started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Bryce Long, 6-1 Sr. Glenn Covington, 6-1 Sr. Lorenzo Williams, 5-9 Sr. Cam Fluker, and 5-9 Sr. Diablo Stewart. (Scott County enters the game without the services of all-state 6-7 Sr. Michael Moreno due to an injury).  Westchester coach Ed Azzam (entering the tournament 877-271 and National Coach of the Year and most wins in Los Angeles City history) countered with 6-6 Sr. Kaelen Allen, 6-3 Sr. Jordan Brinson, 6-8 Sr. Ka’veon Batiste, 5-10 Sr. Jeremiah Turley, and 6-2 Sr. Kevin Bethel.

 

Scott County led by nine with 7:09 left in the game but went cold from the field and Westchester finished the game on a 9-1 win to capture the championship with a 42-41.  Scott County had a late chance for the victory but could not connect for the win.  The score was tied four times and there were eight lead changes in the game.  Westchester shot 45.2% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Comets connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored six points off 10 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 41.7% from the field including seven of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 14 Westchester turnovers.

 

Jordan Brinson led Westchester with 19 points, nine rebounds, and two steals.  Kaelen Allen added 11 points, four rebounds, and three steals. 

 

Lorenzo Williams led Scott County with 12 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds.  Glenn Covington added 10 points including two three point baskets.  Diablo Stewart recorded 10 points, three rebounds, and four steals.
