Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey started the following lineup: 5-7 So. Taleya Todd, 5-7 Sr. Blaze Pacheco, 5-10 So. Je’Kauri McKeithen, 5-5 Sr. Bailey Vanover, and 5-6 Jr. Madison Barnard.  East Jessamine coach Todd Claunch countered with 5-6 Sr. Jessica Hall, 5-7 So. Autumn Harrison, 5-10 Sr. Jalynn Landversicht, 5-3 Jr. Jasmine Atkerson, and 5-5 So. Aimee Hagins.

Madison Central defeated East Jessamine 47-45 in a game that had more plot twists than a good Agatha Christie. Novel.  The game had six lead changes and four ties.  East Jessamine came out bombing from long range was eight of 16 from beyond the arc in the first half and trailed 30-28 at the intermission.  The Jaguars eventually cooled down and finished the game 10 of 29 from long range.  Madison Central’s sparkplug guard Bailey Vanover suffered a bloodied nose and missed a few minutes and eventually fouled out with two minutes remaining and the Indians clinging to a narrow lead.  East Jessamine had a chance to tie in the closing second but Central’s 5-6 Jr. Kelsey Powell played some outstanding defense denying her opponent a clear path to the basket and Madison Central escaped with the victory.

Madison Central shot 40.9% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored six points off 17 East Jessamine turnovers.  East Jessamine shot 31.5% from the field including 10 of 29 from beyond the arc.  The Jaguars connected on only one of eight free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 22 Madison Central turnovers.

Je’Kauri McKeithen led Madison Central today with 15 points and eight rebounds.  Madison Barnard came up big today and added 10 points and three rebounds.  Bailey Vanover recorded nine points, 11 rebounds, and two assists.
