Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. Zan Payne, 6-3 Jr. TC Price, 6-7 Sr. Peter Whitman, 6-2 Sr. Blake Scott, and 6-3 Sr. Luke Johnson. Mason County coach Buddy Biggs countered with 6-2 Sr. Tyrion Fox, 6-1 Jr. Caleb Boyd, 6-3 Jr. Jayden Stewart, 5-9 So. Jaylen Lofton, and 6-0 Jr. Levi Dunaway.
Lexington Catholic utilized Mr. Inside (Peter Whitman) and Mr. Outside (Blake Scott) to combine for 55 points and a helping hand from Mr. Versatility (Zan Payne) 12 points and 12 rebounds to defeat Mason County by a score of 91-64. Mason County led 20-14 after the first quarter but Lexington Catholic outscored the Royals 34-15 in the second quarter to lead 48-35 at halftime to gain control of the game.
Lexington Catholic shot 48.6% from the field including 10 of 28 from the three point line. The Knights connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 18 Mason County turnovers. Mason County shot 44.8% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc. The Royals connected on seven of 16 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 11 Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Peter Whitman enjoyed a career night for Lexington catholic with 31 points, 11 rebounds, and seven blocked shots. Whitman was 13 of 14 from the field and five of six from the free throw line. Blake Scott added 24 points on eight three point baskets. Zan Payne recorded 12 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Levi Dunaway led Mason County with 17 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. 5-10 Jr. Braden Jackson added 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists.6-1 Jr. Caleb Boyd recorded nine points on three three point baskets.
