Madison Central vs. Scott County (Girls)

Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Lindsey Johns, 5-10 Sr. Charity Mack, 6-0 Sr. Mallie Cornett, 5-4 Jr. Bailee Vanover, and 5-7 Sr. Kasi Schneid.  Scott County coach Steve Helton countered with 5-10 So. Maaliya Owens, 5-10 Jr. Peyton Riddle, 5-11 Sr. Lauren Boehm, 5-5 Fr. Morgan DeFoor, and 5-8 Sr. Kadee Hudson.

 

Madison Central defeated Scott County in a 73-69 thriller on the road tonight.  Madison Central led 20-8 after the first quarter but Scott County only trailed 34-32 at halftime but suffered a big loss when Lauren Boehm went out with a knee injury early in the second quarter.  (Boehm had recorded four points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals in ten minutes of action when she was injured).  Scott County rallied and took a 64-57 lead with four minutes left in the game but Madison Central rallied for the victory.

 

Madison Central shot 46% from the field including eight of 21 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 19 of 35 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 19 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 38.8% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 19 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Lindsey Johns led Madison Central with 29 points including four three point baskets, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Bailee Vanover carried 22 points including seven of 10 free throws, four rebounds, and five assists.  Mallie Cornett recorded 10 points, 12 rebounds, six blocks, and two steals.  Charity Mack added 10 points including three three point baskets. 

 

Maaliya Owens led Scott County with 16 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Morgan DeFoor added 15 points including three three point baskets.  Peyton Riddle recorded 13 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.  6-0 Sr. Holly Christian chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.
