Western Hills coach Raymond Ritchie Jr. started the following lineup: 5-9 Fr. Kimber Sutton, 5-6 So. Lakenzie Ritchie, 5-10 So. Taylor Slade, 5-1 So. Jenna Harrod, and 5-5 Sr. Aja Leachman. Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford countered with 5-9 Jr. Kerrigan Davis, 5-8 Sr. Kamari Boyd, 6-0 Jr. Hannah Young, 5-5 Jr. Nakyira Joyce, and 5-6 So. T’Laya Lyvers.
Henry Clay pulled out a 52-49 overtime victory over Western Hills tonight. There were eight lead changes and 11 ties in this game. Henry Clay’s T’Laya Lyvers hit a three pointer at the buzzer to tie the score at 38-38 and force overtime. Henry Clay’s Kamari Boyd blocked a three point attempt to ensure the overtime victory.
Henry Clay shot 39.2% from the field including one of 13 from the three point line. The Lady Blue Devils connected on 11 of 20 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 24 Western Hills turnovers. Western Hills shot 41.9% from the field including four of nine from beyond the arc. They attempted 20 less shots (51-31) from the field than Henry Clay. The Lady Wolverines connected on 19 of 25 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored nine points off 17 Henry Clay turnovers.
T’Laya Lyvers led Henry Clay with 17 points and eight rebounds. 5-5 Jr. Kennedy Coney added 14 points. Kamari Boyd chipped in with eight points.
Lakenzie Ritchie led Western Hills with 20 points including 10 of 11 free throws and five rebounds. Taylor Slade added 14 points including four three point baskets.
