East Jessamine vs. West Jessamine (Boys)

East Jessamine coach Chris O’Bryan started the following lineup: 6-2 Jr. Ronnie Carson, 6-0 So. Camryn Jones, 6-1 So. TJ Ross, 5-8 So. TJ Downey, and 5-8 Jr. Hayden Smith.  West Jessamine coach Damon Kelley countered with 6-3 Sr. Daulton Peters, 6-0 Sr. Will Henderson, 6-4 Jr. Brooks Ely, 5-10 Sr. Landon Adkins, and 5-10 Sr. Lane Brooks.

West Jessamine captured the district championship with an 87-79 overtime victory over East Jessamine.  West Jessamine led 39-28 in the second quarter but East Jessamine rallied to lead 59-52 after three quarters.  West Jessamine’s 6-2 So. Siah Holifield hit a three point basket in the closing second to tie the game at 76-76 and force overtime.  It was a constant parade to the charity stripe as the teams combined for a total of 79 free throws attempted tonight.

West Jessamine shot 54% from the field including 10 of 25 from the three point line.  The Colts connected on 23 of 37 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 13 East Jessamine turnovers.  East Jessamine shot 47.7% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc. The Jaguars connected on 34 of 42 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 20 West Jessamine turnovers.

Brooks Ely led West Jessamine with 30 points including four three point baskets and six rebounds.  Daulton Peters added 18 points and 12 rebounds.  Siah Holifield also scored 18 points.  Will Henderson recorded 12 points and six assists.

Camryn Jones led East Jessamine with 35 points including 15 of 19 free throws.  Ronnie Carson added 21 points including 13 of 14 free throws, four rebounds, six assists, and five steals.  TJ Downey chipped in with 13 points including three three point baskets.
