Frustration's Walls To never be who I think I am; to never understand why the world behaves as it does; to ache for beauty without ever possessing it; to be an alien among my own kind. To believe the lies I tell myself while ignoring the truth; to expect while knowing full well the expectations will not be met. Each of these things is a block in a wall as solid as Aida’s tomb. And yet even in those rare moments when I allow myself to pound my fists against the wall in melodramatic arias of self pity, I never really forget that laughter and joy and most of all, eternal hope are the foundations upon which all walls are built. And then I sigh, and get on with my life. |
