To get Caladbolg
At the northern end of the Calm Lands, there is a partially hidden side path which you can't immediately enter cos it's blocked by a man there. First you must look for the chocobo trainer (the woman in the Lands you can borrow chocobos from) and train your chocobo. Each time you pass a test, you'll be able to access the next one; keep doing this until you can take the last test, which is a race against her. When you beat her once, the man guarding the side path at the northern end of the Lands will come and you can speak to him if you like. Anyway, you can now go down that path and use the Celestial Mirror on the wall at the end to receive the Caladbolg for Tidus.
To get first power up item: Sun Crest
The Sun Crest can be easily obtained, as is usually the case for Crests (it's the Sigils which are the source of headaches). After the fight against Yunalesca in the Zanarkand Dome, go up the stairs on the left (forgot once or twice) and you'll find it in an ordinary treasure chest.
To get second power up item: Sun Sigil
This is one of the hardest items to obtain ... anyway, you have to go and race the chocobo trainer again (same race as the one you need to win to get the Caladbolg) but this time you have to get a time of 0:0:0. Not an easy task >_< (More details on the chocobo trainer here)
