DOCTRINAL ISSUES FACING THE CHURCH TODAY

DOCTRINAL ISSUES FACING THE CHURCH TODAY

Heb.4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and intents of the heart."

And your beliefs are?

What....Do you believe? Why....Do you believe it? Where....Do your beliefs come from?

ISSUE #3
Is There Magical Power in Christ's Blood?

Many a person has shed his/her blood to keep America a Free Country…Their blood was not a magical potion that continues to keep our country free, rather it was their sacrificial death that helped to win a war…Thus keeping another Country from taking our freedom from us…
In the Old Testament and the Old Covenant, animals were killed as scarifies…Their blood and ashes were sprinkled over the alter as a temporal covering for peoples sin…Superior to the temporal sacrifices of the Old Covenant, the blood of Christ is not just referring to the fluid, but to whole atoning sacrificial work of Christ… See, Hebrews 9:14"How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"

The word blood is used as a substitute for the word death as in the following scriptures:
Mat. 23:30 "And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets."
Mt.23: 35 "That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
Mt.27:6,8,24,25 "And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. 8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. "When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
Acts. 18: 6 "And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles."
Acts.20:26 "Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men"

So as we look at the scriptures we can understand that what saves us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness is NOT a magical power in His blood, but Christ’s completed work of the cross…God's people will be found righteous because when the Books are opened to their name in Heaven, there will be no record of their sins…Romans 4:8 "Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute (attribute) sin"...
The pages of our life will be covered with the Righteousness of Christ…...Because, Christ became our substitute...He went to trial in our place and the Father found Him guilty of our sins Present/Past and Future…Then the Father placed the wrath due us on His Son..Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Christ will not get back on that cross, so if His work was not completed, there is no escape from our just punishment…

Here are Scriptures referring to Christ’s blood and some commentary on their meaning...

Mat. 26:28 For this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Covenants were validated by blood of a sacrifice(Gen.8:20)... Here in Mat., Jesus is saying what Moses had said in Ex.24:8 "And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words. But the blood in the Old Covenant was that of animals, now it was going to be His own…"
Mk. 14:24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many. (Notice He didn’t say ALL) Again, shedding of blood(death) was God’s requirement for establishing covenants…Here Christ’s blood needed to be shed for the remission of sins…
Luke 22: 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the New Testament in my blood, which is shed for you. There were 4 cups used in the Passover celebration…This was the third (Cup of Blessing 1Cor. 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?) Christ used it now as a symbol of His blood shed for sin…He set it apart as a token of Salvation before giving it to the apostles…
Jn. 6: 54,55,56 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. Here, Jesus’ point was a likeness, which is spiritual rather than literal…Just as eating and drinking are necessary for physical life, so also is belief in Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross is necessary for eternal life…This can’t not be communion because it had not been instituted yet…
Ro. 3: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; Set Forth means done publicly, not in secret… God displayed His Son on Calvary for all to see…Christ’s sacrifice, His violent death, propitiated (satisfied) the offended holiness and wrath of God against those whom Christ died for…
1Cor.11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the New Testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. The Old Covenant was repeated by men offering the blood of animals, but the New Covenant was ratified once and for all by the death of Christ…Heb.9 28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

We praise God that His work on the cross is all that is necessary for our redemption...Every true Christian has a new nature with a desire to turn from our sins, because God has written His Laws on our heart...However, His blood doesn't give us the power to do so...But, when we abide in Christ, depending on Him, He enables us to overcome the power of sin...
