Bird Eating Spider

The bird eating spider is the largest known spider. There are several species of it. Bird eating spiders differ anatomically from other spiders in several different ways, and also in having four lungs where other spiders have two. These huge spiders are ground dwellers and lead a nocturnal existence. During the day they usually remain hidden in leaf litter or in small holes in the ground. They do their hunting at nightfall. Any creature that they can get the better of is on their menu. Though bird eating spiders have poison glands, they are not half as dangerous to humans as is sometimes made out.
