Knee Strikes

Straight Knee Strike

The straight knee strike uses the front of the kneecap as the striking surface. Swing your striking leg forward, bending your knee to a 90-degree angle. Drive your knee directly to the target. This strike works for middle section and high section. To knee strike to the face, it helps to grab the opponent near the shoulders and pull down toward the knee as you strike. This technique can be used when you are too close to your opponent for a kicking technique to be used. Use a hand technique, such as a ridge strike, to set it up, then pull the opponent into your knee.

Roundhouse Knee Strike

Like the roundhouse kick, the roundhouse knee approaches from the side. Lift your striking knee from the floor. Bend the knee at a 45-degree angle, keeping the inner side of the leg turned toward the floor. Sweep fro the side across your body and drive your knee into the target.
