Healing Through Shiatsu

About Me

I've been working in London as a full-time professional therapist since 1988. My training included courses at the British School of Shiatsu -Do, the European Shiatsu School, but what I found most valuable was a lengthy apprenticeship with Michael Rose and tuition with Bill Palmer. Before that I worked for five years in drug abuse counselling in New York. Although shiatsu is my primary discipline, I qualified in 1993 in auricular acupuncture (NADA Protocol) at the Gateway Clinic, Southwestern Hospital. I also have apprenticed for 15 years with Dr. Francis Clifton, principal of the American Center for Mental Imagery in New York City and director of the Faran Center.

My areas of special interest include pain relief/management, and I am particularly successful with performing artists-dancers, musicians, and actors. I work some of the time at the Kailash Centre for Oriental Medicine and as part the 101 Practitioners Network- under the supervision Dr.Rajendra Sharma, Medical Director at the Hale Clinic, an association of physicians and practitioners of several disciplines. Dr.Sharma is also author of The Element Family Encyclopaedia of Health.

The Kailash Centre is creating a centre of excellence for Oriental Medicine in London. It's the most congenial workspace for practising shiatsu I have found in London. Most every Oriental therapy is represented and there is a wide range of workshops.

I also do a lot of on site work with performers backstage, in recording studios, on tours,and in theatres. My clients have included Boy George, Freakpower (www.angloplugging.co.uk), Caroline Quentin, Akane Abe, the choreographer: Branford Marsalis & Kevin Reynolds, Eddie Izzard, Angela Brown, as well as having a long association with the street performers at Covent Garden.

Home visits in the London area are always possible.

I Have a 1 & 2 day seminar module on basic shiatsu & healing and have travelled and worked over the world, most notably in Germany and New York. I have a Reiki 1st degree and a specialty in substance misuse treatment, as well as certificates in specialist counselling from Beth Israel Medical Center NYC & Nassau County Dept. Drug alcohol (NY). I have spent 5 years working as a shiatsu therapist and acupuncture detox specialist in residential and outpatient drug treatment programs in London and I practice under the auspices of NADA-national acupuncture detoxification association. I work with a team that includes but is not limited to: a medical doctor who is also a fully qualified homeopath, an osteopath, an acupuncturist, a yoga therapists;bio- resonance specialist sand other highly skilled oriental, conventional and holistic physicians and therapists. I also have a long running association with healing in the Sufi tradition.
