Warnings
One of the more interesting and perhaps intricate piercings that you can get on your ear is the rook piercing. The rook is the thick piece of cartilage that juts out under the rim of the ear and above the tragus. A small piece of jewelry accents this ridge. Both men and women enjoy the look they achieve with this type of piercing.

Your experience in getting a pierced rook will depend on the size of your rook. A large rook makes the piercing artist’s job easier, as he or she can access it easier. However, a bigger rook means more cartilage, so while your piercer is having an easier time of it, you are in for more pain. Conversely, a smaller rook has less to pierce through but it is more difficult for your piercer to place.
