"Grizzled (Deschutes River Dee)" is the third in the Deschutes River Dee Series designed by Oregon fly fisherman and tyer Andrew Marshall that will be presented here. His friend, contributing fly tyer Monte Smith, tied "Grizzled". Monte was as excited about tying the Mr. Marshall's flies as conveyed in his letter, "Please find attached some special steelhead flies designed by my good friend and fellow tyer Andrew Marshall of Dallas, OR. H e is one of the most creative tyers I know, and he has designed a series of 10 Dee style flies for the Deschutes River (The Deschutes River Dee Series). I have tied the first five of the set, and he has graciously given me his blessing for sharing them with Salmonfly.net. The minute I saw examples of these flies, I knew I had to tie and fish them!"

The flies in this series are quite remarkable and I was as excited about presenting them as Monte was in tying them. Thank you Andrew Marshall and Monte Smith.

You can see more of the flies tied by Monte Smith and many of his own designs at The Flies of Monte Smith.
