Read more about William Lovelace and see more of his flies at The Flies of William Lovelace.

Bill's Notes: This is a traditional Steelhead fly popularized by Zane Grey on the North Umpqua River. It is tied in several variations. Zane Grey brought the fly back from fishing in New Zealand. This pattern is listed as Zane Grey’s Golden Demon in Trey Comb’s book Steelhead Fly Fishing.
