Bill's Notes: "This pattern came from my first fly pattern book a claw bound 1970 typed mimeographed copy of Roy Patrick’s Pacific Northwest Fly Patterns."

Webmaster's notes: You can also find this pattern in Flies for Steelhead, by Dick Stewart and Farrow Allen. They note that the original fly was designed by Don Larson of Seattle but was a personal favorite of Roy Patrick, the author of the book mentioned by Bill. Roy Patrick open ed the first fly fishing shop in the city of Seattle.
