Bill's Notes: The Carey Special was named after Colonel Carey and has widely been used as a Caddis or Dragon Fly imitation in trout fishing.

About the Soft Hackle Series: I am someone who likes to use traditional soft hackles for trout. It carries over into tying steelhead flies. One of my favorite steelhead series is Alec Jackson’s Spades and they are essentially soft hackles tied with a particular variation of incorporating the deer hair in their construction. Soft Hackles quick and easy to tie in sea run trout sizes are worth a try in any steelheaders’ fly boxes.
