This version of the Green Butt Skunk was tied by Oregon fly tyer William Lovelace for a his series Creativity in Fly Tying: Varying the Approach to Tying the Same Fly with Different Materials and Styles. (which see)

Bill's notes: "Here we have come full circle back to GB Skunk #1 with one anomaly. I put the brown tail in for a discussion of how the red color we see as we tie will fade to a dull brown as the fly goes deeper but Fluorescent colors will remain true far deeper. What we see is not always what the fish see. Think of this as seeing #1 in about 10’ of water."
