Categorizing flies is a tricky business. Most tyers will say that there is no sense in even trying. What has been developed for steelhead may turn out to be a fantastic producer for salmon and vice versa. Many flies cross the lines of being great steelhead, salmon, or even trout flies and this pattern is no exception. This Scott Howell Tube Shrimp pattern may have been inspired by the Tippet Shrimp patterns developed for Atlantic Salmon but it looks like it would be enticing for Pacific Salmon and Steelhead as well. You can see more of Scott Howell's flies at The Flies of Scott Howell.
