Woolie Shrimp, Chartreuse

Name Woolie Shrimp, Chartreuse
Category Steelhead/Pacific Salmon
Thread Red
Tail Hot Pink Goat Hair, Long
Body Chartreuse Chenille
Hackle Chartreuse Saddle Hackle Palmered over body
Collar Chartreuse Marabou
Head Red

This fly is a rough variation of the steelhead fly originated by Joe Butoric. Butoric's fly, the "Steel Woolie" is tied with a longer tail and a shorter collar. The palmered body and long tail combine the characteristics of two other effective patterns, the "Wooly Bugger" and the "Comet". Pink and white are one of my favorite color combinations for Steelhead but this fly can be tied in a variety of colors to suit conditions.
