Godawful Fly (Bond)

Name Godawful Fly
Category Pacific Salmon
Hook Size 2-6, weighted (optional)
Body Vermillion Wool or Glo-Bug Yarn
Wing Pearl Flashabou over Cerise Marabou over Vermillion Yarn
Head Red

The pattern for this fly came from the fine book by Alaska Flyfishers, Fly Patterns of Alaska. If you are interested in fly fishing Alaska, or in popular Alaska fly patterns, this book is a must. It is chock full of patterns of all types. They write that this fly pattern was developed by Dr. Carl Bond for the Kodiak Island Silvers. The fly needs to be drifted near the bottom; it can be weighted or fished with whatever method you use to get it down.
