Note: This pattern is listed in Mel Marshall's, Steelhead, Copyright 1973 as one of the top two dozen Winter Steelhead flies to be counted on. He writes that this fly, originally from England and dating from about 1940, was named for a famed fisherman, Mr. Moon, and a butcher by trade. According to Marshall, most silver-bodied steelhead flies probably derive from this old standard.
