This fly can be tied in a variety of colors to match conditions and preferences.
Instructions:
Wrap thread to just before bend of hook and tie in brightly-colored Yak Hair or substitute. Tie about 4-6 strands of matching Krystal Flash on both sides of the tail. The tail length should be approximately the same length as the hook shank.
Tie in matching Crystal Chenille and wrap forward three or four turns.
Next tie in the Golden Pheasant tippets. Splay the tippets to lie on both side of the hook and imitate eyes.
Tie in the matching saddle hackle tip first, then tie in a length of matching brightly colored chenille.
Wrap thread forward, then wrap chenille to form body. Palmer saddle hackle forward over body and tie in.
Tie in a symmetrical clump of matching brightly colored marabou for the wing. The marabou should not go beyond 1/4 inch past the hook bend.
Tie in two matching mallard flank feathers over the marabou wing. They should not extend over 1/4 inch before the end of the marabou.
Tie a neatly tapered head, whip finish and apply head cement.
