Spider Spruce

Name Spider Spruce

Hook Mustad 90240, Size 6-10
Thread Black, Danville 6/0
Tail 3 Peacock sword tips
Butt Hot orange floss
Rib Gold Badger hackle, palmered over body

The pattern for this fly came from the fine book by Dave Hughes, American Fly Tying Manual. He does not give an account of this fly, but one must think it is a variation of  the Spruce, originated by Bert and Milo Godfrey around 1918-1919.
