Tied by Clifford J. Carstens
Red Shrimp Spey was tied by Salmonfly.Net Contributing Fly Tyer Clifford J. Carstens. You can see more of Cliff's flies at The Flies of Cliff Carstens . Webmaster note: The Red Shrimp was originated by Walt Johnson in the 1950s. Dick Stewart and Farrow Allen note in their book, Flies for Steelhead, that during a streamside encounter on the upper Columbia, when Walt was on a trip with Ralph Wahl, a local angler introduced a cruder version which served as the inspiration. The fly is similar in style to the beautiful speys originated by Sid Glasso.
