Dancing - basics

"The dancing of a slave is a thousand times more sensuous than that of a free woman because of the incredible meanings involved, the additional richness which this furnishes, the explosive significance of this comprehension, that she who dances is owned, and, theoretically, could be owned by you. Too, she is naked, or scantily clad, and is bedecked in a barbaric manner."
Dancer of Gor, page 193

Mistress Laroona's class notes:

greetings to all slaves,

Introduction

Council have requested that I go through some basic training for dances for you all, also tamar, will be taking another class on the use of  descriptions and sexual movements.  As Gorean Shores is located in Port Kar I consider the following quote states we have the best dancing slaves in Gor.  The following is only my  opinion, others may differ.

"The dancing girls of Port Kar are said to be the best of all Gor. They are sought eagerly in the many cities of the planet. They are slave to the core, viscous, treacherous, cunning, seductive, sensuous, dangerous, desirable, excruciatingly desirable."

 Raiders of Gor, Pg. 100

I think that quote says it all *S*

I will conduct this lesson in sections and after this and your will be writing dances, my email (laroona@hotmail.com) is open for you all to send drafts that I can read and hopefully give you some handy hints.

There are many dances in the books; I am not going to list them here, as they are listed on the above links.  There really is no dance 101 for you, if there is, I have yet to find it.

I am not going to bog you down with quotes on dances and how they are expressed in the books those can be readily found and what I consider the best site for references as it has a lot of information on dancing the types of dance, musical instruments etc.  http://www.counter-urth.com/CF/dancers.html

There many sites around to help you learn to dance, all over the net, you can search for.

Also some are on the GS website under dances. http://www.gorean-shores.com/gorhome/dance.html or https://www.angelfire.com/vt/goreanshores/kajirainfo/kajirainfo.html

The first dance you write and perform in front of many is difficult.  It is the hardest to write and like your first serve it is the hardest.  The more you dance the better you become, same as serving.

A dance is not unlike a serve, it should flow from your heart and make the free you are dancing for desire you, you should be able to feel the dance, as you perform and to the free you are painting a picture or like a movie with every movement, look, etc.  Let them visualize they are in a bar and you are  luring them to use a call girl; what I am saying is in your dancing as you do in serves is sell yourself,

It is often helpful to play some music you can dance to as you write, imagine yourself dancing, even getting up from the PC and practicing the movements, to feel the music, let it absorb you.  Make notes and write around those notes, write down how you feel mentally, how the movements felt etc., these help with your writing.  Make sure your dance flows and does not look static.

Run your dance by a more experienced dancer, trainer anyone, even read it aloud; remember there are many around to help you out.  That way you can pick up errors in your writing, as one of my professors said even the family cat is a good listener.

Dancing permits and encourages you to be original, sensual, sexual, and individual.

Don’t make the mistake and do something impossible, like leap 10 feet in the air, or leap from one side of the tavern to the other in a single bound.  No one is a super slave!

As you become more experienced you will feel more comfortable dancing.  Some slaves need to pre-write dances, and have it ready, some prefer to free-from in other words make up the dance as they go.  Other times you maybe asked to dance with another slave, so communicating to each other is important.  An example of this was at the last  Festival in the Group Dance.  That dance was  danced in parts by several slaves and one slave followed another, and it made all who participated read each others posts and work together.  What I am trying to say here is what I observed and how dancing can be so varied and individual.

What ever you do ENJOY!!

NEVER USE ANOTHER GIRLS DANCE – girls put a lot of effort and time into their work and it is plagiarism to copy and use their work.

FINALLY:  A dance is for the pleasure of Free, not for any slaves self-gratification and sexual release!  That will more than likely come from the Free after the dance.  At all times the focus is on the free you are dancing for!

BASICS TO DANCING

First post:

Should always be an acknowledgement to the one asking you to dance, with a smile and indication your desire to dance, you love dancing!!

Dances composition:

Dances are made up in sections or elements, same as a serve, a beginning, and a middle during which you build throughout the dance to a climax and the ending.

Your dance should tell a story within it.

Posts and line length:

I consider the ideal length of a dance ranges between 8-12 posts

And be 8-10 lines for each post

(Demonstrates your effort and the free remain entertained and do not bore them)

Timing:

Timing is important in a dance.  I recommend that you wait between one and 2 minutes between posts, this give the audience time to post any responses.  Also it gives you time to read what you posted and often can see where you can improve in your dance.

Be aware of what is also happening around you.

Expression yourself with the dance:

As I said earlier each dance tells a story, one you weave in your dance.  You express and feel your inner feelings and emotions, your slave heart, you also can hear and feel the music encompass you as you dance, more like it is secondary to your performance.  But your main focus is to demonstrate desirability to the Free you are dancing for!

Descriptive:

I have covered this above, but it is worthy of repeating; in serves you describe you body, walking, looks etc; dancing is no different.  Strike poses as if you are in the display or other positions, like the Gorean bow as an example.  I cannot stress enough for you to be expressive and descriptive.  Use every body part, hair, breasts, legs, belly, shoulders, eyes, facial expressions smile, teeth etc in your dance.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to be alluring and desirable by describing your movements, body etc:  *S*

Tools to use:

The tavern has many tools to use, furs, the sand, pole, FM, tables, whips, scarves silks, etc so many tools you can use as an extension to your body, but not detract from your body.  Use them

I recall once seeing a slave commence a dance from beneath the furs.  That was original.

If you are going to do a whip you need to ask permission first and thank the one permitting it.

Ending:

When you end your dance, strike a pose, and whisper the words of what you are:  “la kajira”

I personally find no need to ask the free if you were pleasing ….if they are they will say so.
