Chapter two
Erie truth
Time passes…
The young girl lay in bed that
night looking out of the window next to her.
“Orianna…” Someone
whispered. The girl looked around.
“Val?” She whispered back.
“Come on Orianna!” The sweet
voice chimed. Orianna crept out of
bed then out of the small house. The
little white light was waiting for her out side.
Together they started walking.
“What is going on Val?”
Orianna asked.
“The time has come.
You have reached the age of seventeen.”
The girl stopped walking.
“Is it that long already?”
“It is Lady.” The small
spirit replied.
“Well! I suppose it is!” She
started walking again and the light fluttered in front of her guiding her.
The spirit led her to their
creek. She had often gone there to
escape the world and to play with the spirits.
“Now Lady, open your mind.”
Ori climbed onto the rock over laying the medium sized creek.
She kneeled on the edge and leaned over running fingertips over the
surface of the water creating ripples.
The girl was suddenly grabbed
around the waist and thrown back onto the grass knocking the wind out of her.
She gasped for air as a face peered over at her.
An ugly face grinned down at her.
“Hiy oney aren’t you a pritty
one? This ‘ill be a good ride.”
Disorientated she looked around to see two other men standing around her.
The Ugly man above her went for her neck.
She struggled which caused him to rip her dress at the shoulder.
She screamed but there would be no one to hear her. The man slapped her across her mouth to silence her and
almost knocked her out. She heard a
bit of rustling and opened her eyes. The
ugly man was gone.
“Are you alright?” Another male voice came. She gasped and jumped. She saw a younger man lean over her almost touching her with a hand. She screamed and backed away. “It’s alright.” He spoke, his voice soft and comforting. “I won’t hurt you.” The girl sighed. She had been through too much for one night. She let herself pass out.
The young picked up the girl and
headed back toward the clearing. The
first clearing he came to he came across a mansion. It was obviously the home of a baron or something higher.
He called out hoping that a servant would hear him.
“Is somebody in there?
Please somebody be there!” He
kneeled with the girl in his arms and cried out again louder.
“PLEASE SOMEBODY!”
He looked down at the girl and shook her shoulder trying to wake her.
There was no response. She
was completely unconscious. A woman
finally came out of the house. She
walked toward them but when she saw whom the girl was she moved quicker.
“Lady?!”
She called out as she ran. She
kneeled in front of them. “What
happened?”
“She was attacked.
Do you know her?” The young man asked.
“Yes, she is the youngest lady
of the house.” She checked the
pulse of the girl.
“What house is this and what is
the girl’s name?” The woman
looked at the man as if she was surprised that he didn’t know.
“This is the house of the
Barron Arine and this is the only daughter of his and his wife Lady Livinia
Arine. This is Orianna.”
She turned toward the house and called in.
“Lady Aarie! Lady please
come out!” The woman turned back to the girl and man.
“How did you find her? May
I ask your name Sir?”
“Nicolaus of Ereghn.
I was down by the creek when I saw her attacked.”
“Ereghn?
The duke’s son Nicolaus?” The
man nodded.
“Ah, of course.” Another
voice broke in. A young woman maybe
about twenty she wore a dark dress and shawl.
Her hair was done up in elaborate braids and curls.
She had pale skin and dark brown eyes.
She was beautiful but mysterious.
“We have waited for you my
lord.” She spoke so surely, so
confidently. It was soothing.
Like she knew everything. “Please
bring the Lady into the house if it please you.”
Nicolaus nodded and picked the girl back up in his arms.
They went into the house and into the study.
He laid her on the long chair then backed away.
“Is she alright?”
He asked. The woman nodded
to the servant woman to leave. She
waited till the door was shut then looked at Nicolaus.
“My lord,” She started.
“She will be fine. But My lord whatever would the son of the esteemed duke be
doing down by the creek all alone without servants or guards?”
“What would the only daughter
of the Barron be there by her self? A
young girl at that.” The woman smiled.
“Very good my lord.
She had her reasons. If she
wants to explain to you then let her. But unfortunately I cannot make up stories
or excuses for the lady. It is not
my place to make amends for her. Not
yet at least.”
“Will she tell me?”
The man asked. The woman shrugged.
“If she wills it.
But now I’m sure the son of the Barron would see you now for the Barron
himself is not here.” The man nodded.
