Chapter One
The Beginning
“I told Michael yesterday, he called me a baby. Why does he not believe me Val?” The young girl asked the small fluttering light, whispering.
“Lady Orianna you are only a
child not ten years yet. They think
you imagine such things. Besides
you should not tell anyone anyway. We
are a secret people who have hidden from…most…humans for all existence.
The tree spirits must not be known for the fear of extinction.”
The small girl frowned.
“But Val…” She started.
“Orianna!” Her mother yelled
for her from the clearing.
“Sometimes, Val, I wish I could
be a spirit like you.” Her mother
called again.
“Orianna!”
“I come Mother!”
She called back. “I must go Val.” She cutely curtsied to the small spirit
then ran to her mother at the edge of the clearing.
“Mother I am here.”
Her mother looked back where her daughter had just been.
“Were you talking with someone
my daughter?” Orianna looked back.
The young girl sighed.
“No mother…only myself.”
“Are you sure?
I thought I heard someone else.” Orianna played innocent.
“I’m sure mother.” She
smiled sweetly which made her beautiful mother smile back. She took her daughter’s hand.
“Oh Orianna NO ONE will ever be
able to resist you. No one…I know
it.”
