The Security Department Chief is currently a vacant position.


The Security Department is responsible for internal ship security and personnel protection. Said protection includes passengers and personnel on official capacity away from the ship (landing parties, diplomatic missions, etc). Security can also launch a boarding party and offensive attack force.


DUTY POSITIONS FOR COMMISSIONED PERSONNEL

CS-Chief of Security: This is the Security Department Chief. He or she is responsible for this department and all personnel herein. The CS and his or her department is responsible for keeping order, securing prisoners, internal and informational security, and offensive operations. The CS’s duty station is the tactical station. The CS is part of the Command Staff and answers to the CO and XO.

ACS-Assistant Chief of Security: This is the CS’s assistant. He or she assigns personnel to the various security areas and to landing parties (or as directed by the CS). The ACS also aids the CS in planning tactics and offensive or defensive operations.

SEC-Security Officer: A general security officer who heads or supervises a task or duty as assigned by the CS or ACS. SECs primarily act as watch officers and command security details.

SIO-Security Intelligence Officer: The SIO works with the CIO in providing necessary intelligence for security operations. This officer may command intelligence gathering missions, but usually assists the CIO in such cases. The SIO is also responsible for securing information retrieval systems. He or she safeguards against unauthorized access and sabotage of such systems.

ISO-Internal Security Officer: The ISO mans the bridge and auxiliary bridge security stations and monitors ship’s security during a watch. He or she activates intruder control systems and has control of all internal and external closing bulkheads and airlocks, including the hangar bay doors. The ISO is a specialist in all security systems on the ship.

CMA-Chief Master at Arms: The CMA is responsible for keeping order on the ship and during shore leave. This also includes legal proceedings and other affairs where order must be maintained. The CMA is the ship’s policeman.

TEC-Tactical External Security: The TEC is responsible for externa; security missions such as undercover operations, stealth intelligence, arranging and clearing the way for planetary strike forces.

OO-Ordinance Officer: The OO is responsible for procurement of and inventory of security weapons and equipment. He or she also plans for the manufacture of special weapons for the accomplishment of unique missions and identifies weapons used by alien forces.

FCO-First Contact Officer: The FCO greets new members at the beginning of each meeting and answers questions they might have regarding the ship; contacts prospective members who have shown an interest in joining the ship prior to the meeting, by telephone or by mail, to remind them of the meeting and welcome them to the ship; remains in touch with prospective members to encourage them to join the ship and attend the monthly meeting; seeks out prospective members at community functions and guides them to the ship; introduces new members to department heads so they can give the new member information about the department and encourage them to join a department in the coming months. The FCO initiates first contact with members of alien worlds to prepare the CO for open lines of communication with the official representatives of a world.

DUTY POSITIONS FOR ENLISTED PERSONNEL

E/SNC-Security NCO: The SNC or ‘Non Com’ is the most senior enlisted security person on the ship. He or she is responsible for all enlisted personnel in the Security Department. The SNC’s primary duty is to see that security squads are always at the ready and that the squad leaders keep their squads well trained and up to date on security operations and procedures. The SNC also assists in administrative work. He or she answers to the CS, ACS, and SEC’s.

E/SQL-Security Squad Leader: The SQL is the equivalent of the ‘drill instructor.’ He or she sees that the squad is physically fit and trained in the latest security procedures, operations, and techniques. It is the SQL who assists an SEC during a mission detail.

E/SG-Security Guard: The SG is the security force. He or she stays mentally and physically alert at all times to do their job to the best of their ability. SGs serve as part of a squad and/or internal security. Squad duty includes landing party and honor guard detail. Internal security involves ship patrol, station guard duty, bailiff duty, escort duty, etc.

E/SWO-Security Weapons and Ordnance Officer: The SWO is responsible for security weaponry and equipment. He or she is also responsible for assisting the Ordnance Officer in fabricating special weapons as needed. The SWO is in charge of the ship’s armory.

E/SPI-Security Shuttle Pilot: An SPI is trained to pilot a shuttle expertly in hostile and potentially hostile situations. During a security mission, the SPI remains with the shuttle to provide cover fire for security squads outside the ship and to effect rescue as possible. SPIs are also trained in the use of heavy armament such as phaser cannon, mortars, photon bazookas, etc.

E/MAA-Master at Arms: The MAA assists the CMA. He or she is responsible for assigning patrols and other personnel as necessary. The MAA is also in charge of the ship’s brig and all prisoners therein.


Shown here is the Security Department Roster. Without these dedicated members, the department and ship as a whole would not be able to function at all.
