TEHACHAPI NEWS -- All four levels of Tomahawks enjoyed a memorable year on the field, with each of the four Tehachapi teams entering the Golden Empire Youth Football league playoffs.
 
The Tomahawks collected at least a no.4 seed or higher at each level, with the varsity finishing with a 10-0 league record and the distinction as GEYF Superbowl Champions. Collectively, the underclassmen Tomahawk teams finished with a combined 12 wins on the season.
 
The Varsity Tomahawks finished their season in impressive fashion earlier this month, winning title over the Farwest Freedom by a 20-8 score in a battle of undefeated conference champions.
 
Tehachapi recorded 239 total yards and scored 20 consecutive points in the first half to ice the win over Farwest. The Tomahawks' touchdowns came off a 10 play drive that was capped by a four yard touchdown run, an eight play drive that was finished with a 21 yard pass play on a fourth and long and a five yard run off tackle with a two-point PAT. Overall, the Tomahawks had nine recorded first downs.
 
On defense, Tehachapi limited the Freedom to only 79 yards rushing and 51 yards passing, not giving up a Farwest first down until just over three minutes left in the second quarter.
 
The Superbowl win for the varsity team is the fifth championship appearance and second league crown for the Tomahawk program since Tehachapi joined the GEYF league in 2002.
