Aluo’s Guesthouse and Trekking Lodge is located at the North end of the main street in Dímáluò.
How to get there
Air
There are a number airports within close proximity to Dímáluò. Téngchōng, Dàlǐ, Lìjiāng and the provincial capital Kūnmíng are all within 1 to 3 days travel by road.
Train
Trains will only get you as far as Xiàguān (Dàlǐ City). To get the rest of the way you have to travel by road.
Bus
From Dàlǐ, currently the most direct route is via Liùkù, Fúgòng and Gòngshān. You can make the trip up with one or two overnight stays in these places. Hotels can be found easily on the main streets, prices typically starting from about 60RMB per night, although if you have a handle on your Chinese you may be able to find somewhere cheaper.
Trekking
Dímáluò can be reached on foot for the trekkers out there, from Gòngshān, Zhōngdiàn (Shangri-La), Déqīn and other places in North West Yunnan.
Example routes
Route 1:
Take the train from Kunming to Dàlǐ/Xiàguān – From Dàlǐ/Xiàguān take the sleeper bus to Fúgòng ~ 11 hours – From Fúgòng take another bus to Gòngshān ~ 3.5 hours – Gòngshān is a 1.5 hour drive from Dímáluò.
Route 2. To break the trip up into more manageable sections and spend more time seeing this side of Yunnan, you can also make the trip in this manner:
Dàlǐ/Xiàguān to Bǎoshān ~ 6 hours – Bǎoshān to Liùkù ~ 6 hours – Liùkù to Fúgòng ~ 2 Hours – Fúgòng to Gòngshān ~ 3.5 hours – Gòngshān to Dímáluò ~ 1.5 hours
All of these cities are nestled between the mountains of the Nu valley and show a part of China even few Chinese get to see.
