Pisa & French Riviera
*********
Well, there it is !
They are hoping to have repair work finished
and can allow people to go up into the tower again sometime in
2002.
The tower and the cathedral there are both outstanding
structures.
This was our
first overcast and grey day of the trip.
But even in the foggy weather, the French Riviera was amazingly
beautiful.
*********
We were thrilled to be able to stay right
in Monaco.
Just a short stroll took us right to the port where Prince Ranier
kept his yacht.
As we turned around, we saw his castle looming above us perched
on a massive rock.
We had dinner at a cozy little cafe in the
marina area
and then walked back up to the upper street level
where I took this picture at dusk.
(I realize it isn't great, but hey, I had to prove I had been
there !)
We wondered why there were barricades
and bleachers along the street.
Then we saw a huge banner announcing the Monaco Grand Prix
which was to take place the next weekend !
The following morning we rode Nice has
much the look of Monaco.... This is a
beautiful park just off the beach..... |
*************************
But......we had to hop on the bus and get the move on if we were to make Lyon for dinner !
*************************
Okay, they may be smiling now, But we
found it was worth adding |
......And I got this breathtaking picture !!
I could hardly eat dinner for jumping up to
get another shot
of this castle across the river on the hillside.

And for a grand finale.......Gay Pareeeee !!
