   Madore Family's Autism Resource Site

Welcome to our family's web site & the Autismzone.

My son Andrew is 9 years old.
He loves to play outside, swim, dance, ride his bike,
and play with super heroes and Lego sets.

Andrew also has autism.

I created this web site 6 years ago to help others.
I have tried to include everything that I found useful: information on autism, diagnosis, treatments, health, nutrition & diets, conferences, sensory integration, applied behavior analysis, links and resources in the United States and especially Texas.
This is not meant to be used as medical advice, but as a guide to information.

It is a very hard thing to be told that your child is autistic.

I was at a loss as to what to do.

The specialist gave me the diagnosis & told me to contact the Autism Society.
They invited me to come to a meeting. The rest, has been a struggle.

I pulled out the phone book & called everyone listed under anything
having to do with autism & asked how they could help me.

I explored the Internet using various search engines.

I called other parents & asked what they have done for their child & what would they recommend that we do for our son Andrew.

Now I would like to pass on what I learned.
He has made so much progress in the 6 years since our journey began.
He is now in a regular 2nd grade with support, is reading beginning level books and loves to be around other kids and adults. I hope this will help you.

Please let me know of any other resources I should include or problems with the site.
E-mail me at autismzone@yahoo.com

Thank you for visiting.
