HISTORY: The Collinsport Ghost Society was founded in 1982 by David Andrews Collins, the son of Roger and Laura Murdoch-Collins. Connected by reputation to most of New England's most famous families, the Collins family calls the Estate Of Collinwood home. Located on Widow's Hill, the estate consists of numerous structures consisting of old shacks and barns and the ancestral house known as The Old House. David explored every inch of this vast estate as a young man before becoming familiar with every facet and story in the house's alleged reputation as a local haunted house. As an adult, he became part owner in a few Collinsport businesses, but his life is dedicated to the Collinsport Society, who is headquartered in the space of the former Trask Mortuary off Main Street.

David recruited a few locals to get his non-profit agency off the the ground, but most of the investigations are carried out by his distant cousin, William Benjamin Collins, the son of Barnabas and Angelique Collins. Raised on the stories passed down by his Uncle Quentin, William amassed a threshold of books and a staggering database of haunted houses from across the United States and later from abroad. Much of his fascination into the afterlife came to the distaste of his father, who had raised William with decidedly old-fashioned Eighteenth Century ideals, and his mother, who lived on the beliefs of her Wiccan ancestors.  As William's research became too large to keep updating himself, it became inevitable that he would make it public by joining his uncle's ghost-hunting agency. The group eventually began growing in size as members joined to pool their beliefs and experiences. Among the members are Henry Desmond, a writer from New York, Matthew Oh, a computer programmer of Korean ancestry, and Andrew Welch, a self-proclaimed vampire hunter who came to Collinsport investigating local reputed vampire legends.

COMMENTS: This site is dedicated to the actors, actresses and creators of the Dark Shadows TV-Series (1965 - 1972). It has been created to bring to life the haunted houses of television and the movies by comparing creating and making parallels with known actual accounts of the paranormal. as such, some descriptions may only superficially or partially resemble Hollywood's often strange and distorted view of ghosts and haunted houses, especially in those cases where accounts very vaguely resembled actual paranormal activity. Often, fantastic plot lines have been recreated as to how they would have occurred in the real world. Additionally, some locations have been created for the sole purpose of this site because of popularity, accountability or likelihood of being haunted.

The West Wing is the back door site for the original Collinsport Ghost Society who in the demise of its original Geocities.Com location was preserved on Codelphia.com. Unfortunately, direct access to that site has been unavoidably barred for right now; until that restriction can be fixed or adjusted, new pages will be posted here. The majority of links still head to the original website except for new and updated pages.
