Keith R.A. DeCandido's first contribution to the Star Trek universe was the Star Trek: The Next Generation - Perchance to Dream graphic novel series, available in the Enemy Unseen collection from Wildstorm. Keith's first Star Trek novel was Star Trek: The Next Generation #61 - Diplomatic Implausibility, which was the story of Worf's first assignment as a Federation ambassador, and introduced the crew of the I.K.S. Gorkon, under the command of Captain Klag, a Klingon introduced in Star Trek: The Next Generation 'A Matter of Honor.' Captain Klag has since made appearences in DS9 Avatar, book Two by S.D. Perry and ST: Gateways - What Lay Beyond 'The Other Side' by Robert Greenberger. The crew of the I.K.S. Gorkon returned in Star Trek - The Brave & The Bold, Book Two, and the Star Trek: I.K.S. Gorkon series from Pocket Books began in 2003 with A Good Day to Die and Honor Bound. A third novel, Enemy Unseen, in the series is due out in 2005, and Captain Klag will have a short story in the anthology Star Trek - Tales From the Captain's Table.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Gateways - Demons of Air and Darkness, the fourth book in the Gateways series and Keith's first novel-length contribution to the Deep Space Nine Relaunch, was been released in September 2001, and received critical praise for the new novelist. Keith concluded the story in Star Trek: Gateways - What Lay Beyond 'Horn and Ivory', which came out in November 2001, and again was praised by fans and critics alike.

Keith's next contribution to the DS9 Relaunch will be the Ferenginar story in The Worlds of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Volume Three.

Keith has also co-developed the eBook series of Star Trek: S.C.E. (Starfleet Corps of Engineers), and wrote S.C.E. #2 - Fatal Error, available in S.C.E. Book One Have Tech, Will Travel. Keith wrote S.C.E. #6 - Cold Fusion (a crossover between the S.C.E. and DS9) and co-wrote S.C.E. Invincible, Books One and Two with David Mack, both are available in S.C.E. Book Two Miracle Workers. He also wrote S.C.E. Here There Be Monsters, the epilogue to the seven-book Gateways series. Keith also wrote S.C.E. War Stories, Books One and Two, released in October and November 2002, and the fourth of four 'spotlight' stories, S.C.E. #28 - Breakdowns.

Keith also wrote The Lost Era - The Art of the Impossible, which was the story of the eighteen year Betreka Nebula Incident between the Klingons and the Cardassians. He's also contributed stories to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Prophecy and Change and Star Trek: New Frontier - No Limits. And Keith is editing two anthologies due out in 2005, Star Trek - Tales of the Dominion War and Star Trek - Tales From the Captain's Table.

Keith's other books include Farscape - House of Cards, the best-selling Buffy the Vampire Slayer tomes The Watcher's Guide (written with Christopher Golden & Nancy Holder) and The Xander Years Volume 1, the Spider-Man novel Venom's Wrath (with José R. Nieto), and the Young Hercules novels Cheiron's Warriors and The Ares Alliance. He has also written Destruction of Illusion, which is the first novel based on the television series Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda.
