Trivia for 4/6
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Answer for 4/5: What is meant when something or someone is said to be of the "first water"? First water is first grade, first class, or of the best in its class. It is mainly used to describe the highest grade or quality in a precious stone, especially a diamond. Transparency is highly desirable in diamonds, and when they are nearly as transparent as water, they are known as diamonds of the first water. As the transparency decreases, we get second or third water. Hence figuratively, something or someone of the first water is first grade, first class, or of the best in its class. 43 players answered correctly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Question for 4/6: Norm Peterson was famous for always being in the same barstool on Cheers. But Norm also had a favorite eating establishment, even becoming upset when it was going to be shut down. What was the name of Norm's favorite restaurant? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trivia for 4/5
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Answer for 4/2: From player George Malits: Ambidextrous pitcher Pat Venditte threw with both arms for the Yankees earlier this week, giving up one run in 1 1/3 innings during a 9-6 split-squad loss to the Atlanta Braves. If Venditte makes it to the major leagues, he wouldn't be the first pitcher to throw as a left-hander and right-hander. A player who pitched for Cincinnati, Montreal, San Diego, Texas, Philadelphia, Boston and the Yankees from 1981-95 was a righty throughout his career. But he pitched from the left side for two batters in the second-to-last game of his career. Can you name this pitcher? 34 players answered correctly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Question for 4/5: What is meant when something or someone is said to be of the "first water"? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Trivia 3/31
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Answer for 3/30: Denton True Young, one of baseball's greatest pitchers, was called "Cy" Young. Why? His fastball was so powerful, the fence his balls hit looked like a cyclone had hit it. Depending on the story, either a friend, a teammate or reporters dubbed him "Cyclone". The shortened "Cy" stuck. He still holds the records for most major-league wins at 511, most games started and most innings pitched. And he pitched so many games, he also holds the record for most losses at 316. He also pitched the American League's first perfect game, in 1904. And he had three no-hitters to his credit. Major League Baseball's best pitcher is awarded the Cy Young Award each year, in his honor. 44 players answered correctly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Question for 3/31: Another follow-up Quick Draw McGraw question from player Robert Yetter: What was the name of the other Quick Draw McGraw featured character who would point to his mouth and say "ah-ah-ah-" when he wanted a biscuit? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
