Trivia 3/31
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Answer for 3/30:
Denton True Young, one of baseball's greatest pitchers, was called "Cy" Young. Why?
His fastball was so powerful, the fence his balls hit looked like a cyclone had hit it. Depending on the story, either a friend, a teammate or reporters dubbed him "Cyclone". The shortened "Cy" stuck. He still holds the records for most major-league wins at 511, most games started and most innings pitched. And he pitched so many games, he also holds the record for most losses at 316. He also pitched the American League's first perfect game, in 1904. And he had three no-hitters to his credit. Major League Baseball's best pitcher is awarded the Cy Young Award each year, in his honor.
