Purity for Life
(Chamuki: December 11, 2002: 12/11/02)
For all of you out there who still play videogames for skill and pride and honor I
welcome you. For all the hacking out there that makes the value of my items drop;
the quality of my play drop; and the security of my computer decrease...Get outta
my site. There will be no haxing here. And a word of warning...you may have all the
power to see through walls and duplicate items and maphack...but we purists will
prevail. Purity for Life.
With that said I would like to go into my monologue about how computers and videogames are my life
probably because they are. Let's go into a history of! It all started way back in the day with
Super Mario 1 for Nintendo...technically before with Atari but that wasn't too scintilating. So
in like the first year that Nintendo was released that Christmas my Grandma and Grandpa Cubberley,
while they were still together decided to get us (my brother Jon and I) the 1337 Nintendo Entertainment
System. Now I remember having quite the trouble with the worlds past 8-1. 8-1 I would rarely get to and
then I would never pass 8-2. I recall that after days (or weeks or even years) I ended up triumphing and
beating Bowser all the way through 8-4 and on subsequent tries I even went so far as to beat Bowser twice
in the same game/continue session. I thought that was pretty cool. Anyway Nintendo forever won my heart
and hooked me on videogames. Afterwards there was the crappy, but now nostalgic, Super Mario Brothers II
which I never personally liked but now is quite the interesting concept comparatively to the previous.
Super Mario Brothers III was a treat. It will forever hold a special place in my heart. I asked for it for
like my 9th or 10th bday (I'm sure if I dug around I would be able to find it somewhere) and I got it...as
was custom for my parents...to give me what I want for my birthday! What else good are birthdays if you don't
get what you want? Well it was given to me and to me alone...I finally had something that was mine and no one
else's. And how cool was it that Mario had all these different suits to wear. Fireball, Racoon, Pwing (the
introduction of entire-level-fly-bys), the comical yet one step up from Racoon: Tanuki Suit, the useless
Frog Suit, and the Hammerbrother Suit. The Hammerbrother Suit was my favorite in that you were invincible
when you ducked and you could kill people not by throwing fireballs but by hurling hammers. Cool Stuff.
Although the Tanuki was a more functional and useful suit, you just can't top throwing hammers. And on a
sidenote FROG SUIT BLOWS! Also introduced in that game was the kicka** Kuribo's Shoe. You get to jump on
spikeys and those spineys that Latiku erupts from his floating cloud of death. SMB 3 also scored the warp
whistles and had cool different koopas at the end of each level. And the final castle of Bowser was
definitely a cool castle! The entire world 8 was cool. Another cool game was Contra: THE sidescroller of
death. But that will have to wait for another time because writing about the history of games is boring.
Gotta write about the exciting stuff right now!!! History later!
