Starbase 32

Starbase 32

Starbase 32 is the home from home of the Seventh Fleet and therefore by default of the USS Iliad amongst other ships. The starbase is in the Tarsan system and orbits the planet Tarsas III. For more information on the Tarsan System, click here.

Starbase 32 is commanded by Admiral Juanita Suarez who is permanently based on the Starbase.

There are around 200 personnel on the Starbase at any one time, the Starbase as well as being a functional dock and having repair facilities is also a hub of activity, indeed as much as you would expect on a Deep Space Station. The Ferengi bar is well known throughout both the Tarsan System and the surrounding areas.

As would be expected, the Starbase is well defended, primarily due to the repair facilities which are seen to be one of the best outside of the Terran system. Phasers are located at several points around the starbase. Being the Operational Base for the Seventh Fleet means that there is usually at least one starship in dock.

As one should probably expect with Earth so far away, the station has its fair share of trouble. The most recent problems surrounded the trial of Karasov and Hunter. For more for more information on the trial, click here.

The top of the Starbase is the dock, the entrance can be seen from the picture to the left. Once inside, the starship is guided into its berth by mooring tractor beams and then locked into position. Pressurized gangways are secured to airlocks on the hull and allow access onto and off from the ship.

The command centre is the control area, the main control room itself is approximately the size of the bridge of a Galaxy Starship. Large windows run the whole length of these rooms offering a virtually uninterrupted view of the docking area.

Starbases are multi-functional. As the expanse of explored space becomes wider, ships need a base from which to effectively operate. The bases are used for the pickup and transfer of medical, scientific and relief supplies as well as bases for personnel awaiting re-assignment. On some of the larger bases, Starfleet Academy entrance exams and extensive medical treatments are administered. Starbases also provide conference facilities. Starbase 32 recently served as the venue for the trial of Ilya Karasov and Nathan Hunter.
