Posting a Game
The steps to follow when planning a Consortium game are as follows.
- First, consult the Calendar
to make sure that another Consortium game is not scheduled for the time at
which you would like to run.
- Second, email the group about your game. An email must be sent using the
Consortium Mailing Group
at least 20 hours before the game is scheduled. Include a meeting place, time,
and a short description of your proposed game. The meeting place must be reasonably
accessable to all members who would like to play, ie games will not be held
in a boy's room on GCC.
- Third, make sure that your adventure is scaled to the group that will probably
be playing.
- Fourth, run your game. As long as two or more people play in your game,
then it is an official Consortium game.
- While running your game, abide by the rules as close as possible. Consortium
is meant to be rather homogenous, even with a host of DMs. So, reasonable
amounts of treasure and experience ought to be given. The DMG has guidelines
for rewards. Anything not found in the Official Consortium Books must meet
the approval of the Council
before it is used in a Consortium game.
- If a game does not follow these guidelines, then it is considered an illicit
game. All characters that participate in an illicit adventure are considered
illicit characters.
Consortium Guidelines
Consortium guidelines for play include:
- Once a skill is a class skill, it is always a class skill. As an (extreme)
example of this if a character starts out as a rogue, all the rogue class
skills can be taken as class skills, no matter into which class the character
multiclasses.
- Any character who dies during an adventure gets a share of the experience
earned in that adventure, as long as that character is retrievable.
- A character can buy any magical items in any Official Consortium Book, as
long as the item's total cost does not exceed his character level x 1,000
gp.
- Any gross violation of the rules will result in inspection by the Consortium
Council. The Consortium Council reserves the right to retract actions that
are in violation of the rules set forth by the official Consortium Books.
All such retractions made by the Consortium Council will be posted on the
Rules Clarifications
page.
