He just learned how to fight, got good at it, and became a bouncer for hire by whoever. Family: Just him, and his younger brother Miroku, with whom he is very attached. 
Background info: Kou is very much the comical relief of the story, as this guy never seems to get a break, but he doesn't seem to mind. He was introduced to The Gang when Barret hired him as a bouncer for the tavern shortly after the attack of cyborgs and ninjas. Before being hired Kou had been separated from his brother, but during one of the Gang's missions he was reunited with him. One of his favorite past times is hitting on the ever-attractive Robyn, which earns him a swift knock to the back of the head and the knees from both Robyn and Coby. He is also a favorite target of Barret for all his jokes and beatings, and if Kou is using something that Barret wants, Barret will simply nonchalantly either knock him out of the way or take what he needs. However, while he is constantly bombarded with insults from his comments or stupid questions, he nonetheless manages to stay happy, and can be an endless source of energy. When he wants to. He's a good asset to the team, and helpful when it comes to taking out large groups of "the enemy."

Otherwise, he really has no other capabilities. Family: Him and his "favorite" older brother, Kou. 
Background info: Miroku is a child prodigy who possesses the genius and intellect of a thirty-year-old man in the body of a thirteen-year-old boy. No one's quite sure how he managed to get so good at handling technology, but he must have had a lot of free time on his hands. Appearance-wise he's practically a miniature version of Kou, only not as muscularily developed, and he lacks the tattoos and height. He's a kind boy and not nearly as outspoken as his older brother is. Because of this, whenever Robyn gives him a compliment on how "cute" he is, his face will flush with redness. This promptly gets an angry retort from Kou on why he's not considered to be cute, which ends up in a clobber over the top of the head from Barret. He's willing to help the Gang out on missions whenever he can, and the members of it usually like to pick on Kou by pretending that they like Miroku more than they like him (whether this is actually true or not depends on the individual). Nevertheless, Miroku loves his brother very much, as it is apparent in how similar they speak (Miroku even has a semi-adult sense of humor from being around his sibling) and how well they bond together. |
