Crisis in the Treylor Sector

On Stardate 54504.6, the USS Firehawk came under attack by members of a heretofore unknown crime syndicate. The ship's defenses were overcome quickly, and the crew taken captive. However, most frightening was the fact that the ship's cargo, five transphasic torpedoes, was captured along with the ship.
The USS Victorious, under command of Rear Admiral Terran Andrews, was in the Treylor sector nearby, attempting to gain rights to inspect debris left over from a battle between the Federation and Dominion, three years ago. While still unaware of the Firehawk's capture, they discovered that the starship graveyard had in fact been raided, the ships stripped of anything of value. Meanwhile, the same mystery drew in the starship Argo under Captain Andrew Kramer, which had discovered Federation weapons and equipment in the hands of Klingon militants. Their investigation revealed that, in the years since the war, a crime syndicate had emerged in the sector, selling off Federation equipment to highest bidders in two quadrants.
While the news was already serious, the discovery that the USS Firehawk and her cargo had been captured changed the whole playing field. Shortly thereafter, a transphasic detonation was recorded on Nimbus III - the world established a century ago as 'the Planet of Galactic Peace.' Due to the sparse population of the world, casualties were light, but the significance of the event cannot be understated, as it showed that civilian forces were in possession of the most powerful weapons ever employed by a civilized race.
Imprisoned on a planet known as Garbonious IV, the crew of the Firehawk incited a rebellion against their captors. At heavy cost, they managed to send a distress message which alerted the other Starfleet ships to their location. A team was dispatched immediately from the Victorious, and the two ships themselves rushed to the scene as soon as they could deal with the perpetrators of Nimbus III: a small pirate vessel, ill-equipped to handle a pair of Federation starships but for a single transphasic torpedo, which could destroy its assailants in an instant if the two captains did not take extreme care. And in the mean time, the crime lords found their first client - a single torpedo made its way for a Klingon battlecruiser waiting on the other side of the border.
Once the Argo and Victorious - Kelvin and Sovereign-class starships respectively - learned of the whereabouts of the crime syndicate and brought their full power to bear against them, the two remaining torpedoes were recovered and the situation was resolved quickly, with minimal casualties for the Victorious and Argo. However, the same cannot be said for the Firehawk, who lost her captain, Commander Yu-Xsin Chen, and all but ten members of her crew in the incident. The final torpedo was destroyed along with the warships that carried it, when Admiral Andrews ordered its detonation in order to prevent the Klingons from escaping with it. The situation in the Treylor sector has now been handed over to the Federation authorities.
Starfleet Command has yet to comment on the incident.
