Honor and Thieves

The USS Argo was on a routine passage through Klingon space, on her way to Sector 359, when she received a signal from a Brigadier Kordac who, without explanation, ordered them to leave. Unable to recieve confirmation from the Klingon government and finding his ship light-years away from the nearest friendly border, Captain Kramer nonetheless ordered the ship to proceed on course.

Two days later, the Argo came under fire from a pair of Klingon Birds of Prey. The craft withdrew after inflicting only minor damage, disappearing shortly thereafter in a manner that has yet to be explained, but the situation continued to worsen as the entire local Klingon fleet seemed to mobilize against the Argo, emerging from a nebula unknown to Federation starmaps. After taking heavy damage at the hands of Kordac's flagship itself - a ship not before encountered by the Federation - the Argo took refuge under cloak, attempting to slip quietly out of the area as they attempt to sort out what is going on. Presently, they stumbled upon the debris from what appeared to be a recent battlefield, with the remains of both an old Klingon battlecruiser and an Orion raider evident. Most disturbing was the fact that Federation weapons signatures could be detected.

Before this mystery can be solved, the Argo detected another battle in progress, this one between a pair of Klingon cruisers and Brigadier Kordac's flagship. When Kordac's ship looked to be in danger of destruction, Captain Kramer decided to reveal the Argo to the Klingons, to see which of the fighting parties will respond in a hostile manner. The Brigadier's attackers fire on the Argo, and after a brief scurmish, all the Klingons withdraw.

It was then decided to take the ship to the nebula from which the Klingons emerged. Probes detected a Klingon battlestation hidden inside, and the Argo's chief of security, Lieutenant JG Leonidas, suspected a potential plot to unseat Chancellor Martok and suggested an intelligence-gathering mission. After he recieved approval from Captain Kramer, a special forces team was sent to infiltrate the nebula and discover the nature of the Klingon presence.

The operation was successful, and the team gained signifigant information from the base. While it was still uncertain as to the nature of the Klingons, it was discovered that they were in fact being supplied with Federation weapons and equipment by an Orion cartel, which they manage to backtrace to the Treylor sector. Considering the threat of Orions gaining access to Federation weaponry, it was decided that thier investigation would best be continued there.
