Graduate Lab Assistant, School of Library and Information Studies, University of Rhode Island, Summer 1998 and Summer 1997.  Supervision of graduate computer lab.Troubleshooting hardware and software problems; individual and group instruction on WWW searching, HTML, downloading. Assisted professors with courses, projects.

Reference Librarian, the Essex Public Library, Tiverton, Rhode Island, May 1997- present. Overall responsibilty for assisting patrons with reference questions. Provide internet and CD-ROM instruction.General circulation work, ILL processing, creating finding aids, maintaining reference collection. Developing local history collection. Teaching courses on use of the internet and internet searching for adults.

Reference Assistant, University of Rhode Island Library, S. Kingston, Rhode Island, January-May, 1997. Main responsibility was instructing students on CD-ROM searching techniques. Worked concurrently as an assistant in Current Periodicals.

Music Manager, Assistant Manager (Book Department), Bookseller, Borders Books and Music, Peabody and Framingham, Massachusetts, April 1993- July 1996. After a few months as a bookseller in Framingham, I was promoted to Assistant Manager and helped open a new Borders in Peabody. During my two years as a manager, I directly supervised 10 people. For most of the time at Borders I was the Human Resources Officer, in charge of interviews, hiring, scheduling and benefit issues. For the last year (1995-96), I was promoted to Music Manager.

Assistant Buyer, New England Mobile Book Fair, Newton Highlands, Massachusetts, Fall-Winter 1991. Worked directly with the buyer for remainder books on purchases, pricing and display.

Assistant Manager, Floor Supervisor, Assistant Buyer, and Bookseller, the Yale Co-op Bookstore, New Haven, Connecticut, 1986-1991. After a year as a bookseller, was promoted to assistant buyer of remainder and promotional books. Grew this department by 50% over three years. Prepared a quarterly catalog and ran sidewalk sales in fall and spring. Added used and rare books to the stock. Last three years was assistant manager/floor supervisor as well as a buyer. Supervised 8 people.

Buyer and Assistant Manager, The Book Bear, West Brookfield, Massachusetts, 1984-85. Large general stock used bookstore.

Manager, Assistant Manager and Bookseller, Johnson's Bookstore, Springfield MA, 1981-84. Managed the Secondhand Book Department. Did all the outside buying, including at auctions.
